Personalized Family Name Engraved Bourbon Barrel Head

This listing is for a personalized, laser engraved Lazy Susan or Wall Hanging created from an authentic Bourbon Barrel Head straight from the heart of Kentucky. Not all barrel heads come with a readable stamp, some have no stamps at all. These beauties we set aside to plane down, clean off and laser engrave. Giving these individual works of art a second life with a functional purpose brightens our soul and lightens our step.

The beauty of these "Heads" is the nature of their wear. No two barrel heads are identical. The wood pieces are all cut differently. Gapping between the pieces is unavoidable and some warping can occur. All our heads have been dried and sealed with 3 coats of polyurethane front and back as well as secured with thin ply on the back to prevent further warping or splitting. These are not "new" wood heads. They are authentic, upcycled bourbon barrel heads straight from the distilleries in Kentucky. Appreciating their imperfections is the greater purpose of these functional artworks.

There are two options for this listing, Wall Hanging or Lazy Susan. For either option, all hardware is provided.

The barrel head measure 21" in diameter and sits approximately 2" tall.

Each piece starts by sanding the back to remove the heavy char.
Each stave or head is inspected for damage or cracks.
We carefully clean each one with water and a wire brush to remove any dirt and debris but retain the authentic aged patina.

After cleaning and gluing (if item requires), we sand all the edges with 600 grit to make smooth.
We hand rub 3 coats of food-safe polyurethane for longevity. We have moved on from oiling as it wears off with use and decreases the longevity of the wood.

All products are then carefully wrapped and await shipping.

Each authentic Kentucky bourbon barrel comes direct from one of the many distilleries that surround us, including Jim Beam, Maker's Mark and Jack Daniels. The charm in all of our barrel products is no two are ever exactly the same. The patina of use and age infuses each one, making them a unique statement of our American history and culture.
